COP 28: Concrete Actions and Global Cooperation for Climate

cop 28

The COP 28 – the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) – is currently underway in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, until December 12, 2023. Representatives from various countries gather at this event to discuss and implement strategies aimed at environmental preservation and mitigation of the impacts of climate change.

In a scenario with high expectations following COP 27 in Egypt the previous year, the international community anticipates more concrete and effective actions during COP 28. The event in Dubai presents a crucial opportunity to assess the progress of nations regarding the Paris Agreement, signed during COP 21 (2015), aiming to limit the global temperature increase to 1.5°C by 2050.

The United Arab Emirates, hosts of COP 28, are prominent due to the energy transition initiatives they seek to implement. The country’s developed infrastructure for hosting major events, such as COP, represents a significant step in promoting discussions that can shape the global climate future.

An important announcement, for example, was the creation of a million-dollar fund for countries affected by global warming. This initiative marks a significant milestone in the global effort to address climate challenges.

Furthermore, Brazil and 117 other countries made a historic commitment to triple clean energy production. This collective action signifies a significant step toward a more sustainable future and underscores the importance of global collaboration in seeking environmental solutions.

Relevance for Brazil

Despite taking place in Dubai, COP 28 is of great importance for Brazil. The country, with its vast and vital Amazon Rainforest, plays an indispensable role in climate discussions. As a leader in initiatives contributing to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, Brazil sets a positive example in addressing climate change.

Brazil’s active participation in COP 28 not only reinforces its environmental commitment but also emphasizes the need for global cooperation. The Amazon Rainforest, with its unique biodiversity, requires special attention in the context of climate change, making Brazil a key player in the discussions and actions proposed during the event.

Artery and COP 28 – Sustainability Through the Artistic Lens

While COP 28 unfolds in Dubai, Artery has transcended physical borders to actively contribute to this global dialogue. More than a cultural producer, Artery emerges as an innovative voice committed to socio-environmental causes.

At the core of Artery, awarded in the Governance category at the ESG Summit Brazil 2023, ESG values are not just an approach; they are a compass guiding choices and actions. It is an opportunity to translate commitments into tangible actions, using art as a powerful tool for awareness and mobilization.

Artery engages in socio-environmental discussions uniquely, standing out with initiatives like the Jaguar Parade and the Art of Love. Soon, Artery will unveil and promote new initiatives dedicated to protecting various wildlife and ecosystems, including the seas and their creatures.

Moreover, our partners have excelled at COP 28. The SOS Pantanal, an NGO benefited by the Jaguar Parade, discussed climate disaster alerts. During the event, the Aracuã System, developed by SOS Pantanal, was mentioned. This program, detecting heat sources from NASA, sends personalized automatic alerts to smartphones of residents and firefighters in areas covered by Pantanal Brigades.

Each new host city, each brushstroke, each auction represents a creative step toward a sustainable future. As global discussions at COP 28 continue, Artery remains not just an observer but an active participant in shaping a future where art and sustainability intertwine uniquely.

Connecting communities worldwide, Artery reaffirms its commitment to being a positive cultural and environmental force, charting an original and vibrant path toward preserving our planet for future generations!
