The Heart of the Initiative: Protecting the Jaguar Habitats!

‘Conexão Jaguar’ is more than just a title; it’s a vision translated into actions. Since 2017, this vision has found expression in implementing reforestation projects aimed at reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions (GHG), with a focus on priority areas for the protection, recovery, and connection of habitats and corridors for the majestic jaguars. In territories where ISA CTEEP is present, the Program’s first project was born: the grand Serra do Amolar, in the Pantanal region.

A Story of Sustainability

This story is woven in Brazilian lands, specifically in Serra do Amolar, a region embracing the Pantanal and extending across the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul, touching borders with Bolivia and Paraguay. Encompassing more than 76,000 hectares, this emblematic project propels CO2 emissions reduction, building an impenetrable barrier against deforestation and forest degradation.

Allies and Strategic Partners

There are no solitary achievements. ‘Conexão Jaguar’ thrived thanks to strategic collaboration with technical allies like Panthera and South Pole. They walk side by side with the Protection and Conservation Network of Serra do Amolar, managed by the Homem Pantaneiro Institute (IHP). This alliance, forged in shared values, extends beyond barriers and borders.

Transformation in Numbers

The tangible results of this partnership inspire confidence. The ISA Group and ISA CTEEP protect 432,200 hectares of forests and water sources. Under the glow of the ‘Conexão Jaguar’ Program, there’s potential to reduce over 6 million tons of CO2 emissions among reforestation projects in Latin America. In the Serra do Amolar project, a guardian spirit of the Pantanal, a reduction of 120,000 tons of CO2 emissions is envisioned over the next 10 years.

It makes a bold promise: by 2030, 400,000 hectares of forest in the jaguar corridor in Latin America will be preserved through 20 projects.
